Billy Hayes, 76, died  Monday, August 29, 2016 at Genesis Hospice after a long courageous battle with cancer.  He was born January 6, 1940 in Zanesville to the late Ralph and Ruth Hayes.
Billy was a Vietnam Veteran having been drafted to the Army in November 1965.  He continued to serve and was honorably discharged from the reserves in 1971.  He then was a State Meat Inspector for many years at Gibson Meat Packing.  He was a loving father, grand and great-grandfather and will be missed by many.
He is survived by four children including daughter, Rhonda Abbott, Marsha (Jeff) Hanvy; son, Heath (Rebecca) Hayes and Ralph (Tracey) Hayes; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; siblings, Donna Northrup, Bill, Ralph, Denny and Nancy Hayes and Eddie Spinks; brother-in-law, Edward Hale; daughter-in-law, Barbie Hayes and his best friend, Bill Bussey.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Hayes and on eson, Billy (William) Hayes.
Viewing will be Thursday,  September 1, 2016 at 10 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 12 p.m. at  Burrell Funeral Services, 414 LaSalle St.  Military rites will be performed following funeral service.  Cremation has been chosen.  Condolences may be expressed at guestbook link.
