David Walter Chandler, Sr., 82, went to live with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 3:20 P.M. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was born March 21, 1934 in Lowell, Ohio to the late Walter and Volorus (Dalton) Chandler. David is survived by his wife of 60 years Nora F. (Brown) Chandler. 
He served in the United States Armed Services for 22 years and retired February 28, 1973. He served 12 years in the U.S. Air Force and 10 years in the U.S. Army,  His service distinguished by duty in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Upon his retirement from the armed forces he served as Director of the Zanesville Civic League. He also served on the Zanesville Civil Service Employment Board. David worked at Newark Air Force Base in support of the Air Force Metrology and Calibration program office as a federal employee. After his retirement from Newark AFB he worked as a security guard for 5 years. 
David was actively involved with the Zanesville community, primarily in programs that enhanced and enriched the youth and the community as a whole. He loved helping others less fortunate. Most of all David loved spending time with his family, enjoying attending various family reunions each summer. 
David is survived by his wife Nora, 2 sons David (Tamara) Chandler, Jr. of Dayton, Ohio and Randall (Brenda) Chandler, Sr. of Zanesville, 1 daughter Jessica Chandler of Belize, 7 grandchildren Shala, Stefanie, Jeromy, David III, Joshua, Rachel, and Randall, Jr., 5 great-grandchildren, 6 sisters Naomi Scipio, Yvonne Campbell, Loretta (Ralph) Franklin, Diana (Larry) Mayle, Vicky Chandler, and Marvetta (Ernest) Harris, 1 brother Gayland (Harristean) Chandler, Sr., many nieces, nephews, and cousins. David is preceded in death by his daughter Jennifer Chandler, his parents, sister Cynthia Taylor, and brothers Darrell Chandler, and Gary Chandler, Sr. 
David's family wishes to extend a special thank you to the CCU staff at Genesis Health Care System, for the loving care administered to David during his time with them. 
Visitation will be Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Burrell Funeral Services, 414 LaSalle St. Zanesville, from 5-8 P.M. Services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Wings of Hope Tabernacle, 709 Lee St. Zanesville. Family will receive friends from 10-11 A.M. where Homegoing Service will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Terry Newman officiating. Internment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Condelences may be expressed at the left.
