Homer Birchfield, Jr.

Homer Birchfield, Jr., 95, of Zanesville, Oh, passed away at 4:15 am, Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at The Morrison House Hospice Center. Homer was born December 30, 1922 to the late Hobart and Della (Wells) Birchfield, Sr. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Birchfield; daughter, Diane Birchfield; and granddaughter, Andrea McAlister.
Homer leaves behind to cherish his memory, many wonderful and loving grandchildren, Kimberly McAlister Rota, Larry Rota II, Faith and Wyatt Rota, Owen and Avery McAlister, of TN, Christopher McAlister, of VA, Dawn, Jack, Nick, Zoe and Corey Smith, Angela, Bill, Josh, Maci, Mia and Katie Edgell, Larry and Bernice Rota, Sr., all of Zanesville, Oh, Stephen McAlister, of TN, and Chris McAlister, of GA; extended grandchildren, Michael Shaffer and Joni Crump, of Philo, Oh; and many more loving friends and family.
Homer was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He served in The United States Army from Dec. 16, 1942 until Dec. 5, 1945, and was a Bronze Star recipient. Homer was proud to be a United States Veteran. He will be truly missed. You may call on the family Friday, March 2, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m., with funeral service to follow at 12 p.m., at Burrell Funeral Services. Burial will follow in Wesley Union Cemetery.
