James Jones

James Grant Jones, 67, went to be with The Lord after a lengthy illness, March 4, 2018, at the Oaks at Bethesda. James was born April 28, 1950 to Hortense (Weatherspoon) Jones and the late Paul E. Jones. In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by a brother, Vincent K. Jones. He was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. church. James was also a United States Veteran, after serving in the National Guard. 
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, one son, James (Stephanie) Jones; three daughters, Stephanie Jones, Carletta (Phillip) Ellison and Casey (Charles) McPhee; sister, Lisa Ayres; three brothers, Paul (Sandy) Jones, Eric Jones, and Brett Jones; six grandchildren; special nephew, Paul "Paulie Paul" Jones; special friend and former wife, Jackie Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. 
James was known for his bright smile. He often told outrageous stories that brought laughter to anyone who heard them. He will be missed by all who knew him. You may call on the family Friday, March 9, 2018 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m., with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m., at St. Paul A.M.E. church, 561 Pine St. Cremation will follow. Reverend Cliffton Kilpatrick officiating. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
