Peggy L. Short 89, passed away Wednesday April 20, 2016 at Glen Park Senior Living Community in Defiance, Ohio, where she had been a resident for the past three years. Peggy was born on December 10,1926 in Coshocton, Ohio. The daughter of Randolph C. and Ruth M.(Jennings) Ryland. In 1950, she married Jay Short with whom she helped operate Cannon & Cannon Funeral Home in Crooksville and Roseville, Ohio, over 40 years. She was a member of Eastern Star, Roseville American Legion Post 71 Ladies Auxiliary, Roseville Mothers Club, Quilting Club, Good Samaritan Charity Circle and St. Paul Lutheran Church. Peggy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was very proud of her grandsons for all they have achieved and the wonderful adults, husbands and fathers they have become. She loved working in her yard alongside her sister Pat. Some may remember the little lady on S. Main St. Roseville sweeping away in front of her home. Peggy enjoyed Ohio State University football attending and tailgating on game days with her family and friends . Peggy is survived by her daughters, Lou Ann Short San Francisco, California, and Julia (John) Starner of Defiance, Ohio. Also surviving two grandsons, Jason (Lissa) Starner of Noblesville, Indiana, and Jeff (Mandi) Starner of Defiance, Ohio. Three great grandchildren Campbell, Anderson, and Celaire Starner. A sister Pat Smith of Roseville, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jay, and two sisters, Joyce Bird and Betty Ryland. Graveside services will be held on Sunday April 24, 2016, at 1:00 in Roseville Cemetery, Roseville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or St. Paul United Methodist Church in Roseville, Ohio.  Condolences may be expressed at left.
