Shamika L. Bowen, 26 years old of Zanesville, Ohio, said goodbye to the pain of this life on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Genesis Hospice Center, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 31, 1990 to her late mother, Paula M. Corder and her father, Jeffery “Flint” Bowen. In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by an aunt, Carrie J. Corder; and grandmother, Louise Jean Corder Berka.
Shamika leaves behind to mourn her passing, two children, Lajaya and Dejonte Bowen; her father, Jeffery “Flint” Bowen; grandfather, Michael “Tony” Bowen Sr.; uncles, Michael Bowen Jr. and Client Bowen; grandmother, Bulha Bowen; aunts, Neshelle and Nakita Bowen; brothers, Jeffery Stevens, Shawn Curtis and Michael Wentworth; sister, Otessa McCoid; special cousin, Allen (Jessica) Stuchell; a special friend and relative, Denene; nieces, Anna, Carrie, Lyric, Dezarea, Caidence, Gabby, and Corina; nephews, Dominic and Ashton; a very special life long friend and life partner, Whitney Dickinson; as well as a host of many other family, friends, relatives, and many who supported her fight with the illness.
Shamika was a hard working mother. She knew no greater joy than loving and taking care of her children. She will be missed by many, but will live on in the hearts that love her. You may call on the family and friends Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., withe the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., at the Anchor Church, 1365 Chamberlain Street in Zanesville.
