Inez Lee Sloter Kern, 78, Died early Tuesday morning, November 7, 2017 at the Health Care Center in Thornville, Ohio. Inez was born October 26, 1939 in Newark Ohio to the late Kenneth and Gretta (Lyons) Sloter.
Proceeded in death by her parents; and one brother Thomas E. Sloter.
Surviving are her Husband, Junior Wayne Kern, of 61 years, whom she wed on May 6, 1956; son, Jonathan Jay Kern; two sisters, Erma McComb, Janet Ranck; two brothers, Charles and Allen Timms; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Inez worked as a car hop at the old William's Drive In Restaurant in her youth.  She later worked as a telephone operator in Hebron. Inez loved children, as children loved her. She cared for many of her nieces and nephews, and also acted as a Sunday School teacher. She especially enjoyed her role as a mother to her son. To keep herself busy when Jay went off to work, Inez took on a nurses aid position at Newark Healthcare, where she worked until retirement. Inez loved to sing old gospel songs, and was often asked to sing alongside her husband during church services. Inez was a happy person, and often spread her happiness to those who were ill. She was loving and kind, she is sure to be missed by many. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Thornville Health and Rehabilitation Center/Greystone Health Care, and Bella Care Hospice Center, for their loving care of Inez.
Services will be held at Burrell Funeral Services, 414 LaSalle St., Zanesville, OH on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 1 p.m. Calling hours will be held prior from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Pastor Bill Beard officiating. Burial will follow in Kirkersville Cemetery, where a graveside service will be held. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
