Martina Elizabeth Bowers, age 88, of Zanesville, departed from this world on Tuesday, August 29, 2017. Martina was born November 27, 1928 to the late Martina (Foley) and Thomas Hannigan. In addition to her parents, Martina is preceded in death by her loving husband, John Lewis Bowers, Sr.; a son, Thomas Bowers; and a grandson, Michael Oshea Nutter, Jr.
Martina leaves behind to mourn her passing, her children, John Lewis (Ruth) Bowers, Jr., Mary Anne Nutter, Patty (Mike) Boetcher, Dave (Tawnya) Bowers, and Martina "Marty" Bowers; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Martina was a loving mother and grandmother.  She retired from Bailey Drug after 30 years of service. In her spare time, Martina loved to read, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was also known to be an Ohio State Buckeye fan, as well as a Cinncinatti Reds fan. You may call on the family Friday, September 1, 2017 from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. with services to follow at 1 p.m. Father Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.
