Robert "Bob" Lee Hayes, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018 at his home, after a courageous 15-year battle with cancer.
Bob is dead. I am dead, I said. If you go to Kroger for gas to see me, I won't be there. I am at the Big Kiosk in the sky. I am survived by my wife, Sharron Jo Harvey, whom I married July 29, 1965; daughters, Layne (Kyle) Luburgh Paladino and Susan (Steve) Hayes Mitchell; 6 grandchildren, Paige (Moore, Parks) (Ross Harlan) Luburgh, Hanna (Joshua) Luburgh Agin, Slade (Taylar Knellinger) Luburgh; Ethan Paladino; Spencer Mitchell, Sarah Mitchell; 3 great-grandchildren, Koen Moore, Knox and Kora Parks, and 1 more Luburgh on the way.
Also survived by brother, Ronald (Michelle) Hayes, of Zanesville; nephew, Ronald (Barb) Lee Hayes, of Columbus; uncle, Bob (Norma) Cleary, of Owasso, OK; several cousins in Oklahoma and Georgia; brothers-in-law, Jim Harvey and George (Susan) Harvey, of Zanesville.
I was preceded in death by my parents, Laura "Lolly" Hayes Gilmore and Bob Hayes, and step-father, George Gilmore.
I served in the US Navy for 7.5 years as an interior communication electrician. I attended Ohio University in Athens and Zanesville, Ohio. I was a hairdresser for 40 years in Zanesville, and worked at Kroger for the 13 years, until July 2018.
I will be cremated with no service. My request will be for donations to be made to Genesis Hospice of Zanesville, or St. Jude Hospital, through stjude.org. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
