Steven "Murph" Frances McLaurin, Sr.

Steven Frances "Murph" McLaurin, Sr., 61, of Zanesville, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019. Murph was born April 24, 1957 to the late Frances William and Juanita McLaurin. In addition to his parents, Murph is also preceded in death by his son, Steven F. McLaurin, Jr.; and maternal grandparents, John Wesley and Annie Ruth Murphy.
Murph leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Wilsie A. McLaurin; children, Stephnee and Jason McLaurin; step-children, Alan and Kyle Sutton; grandchildren, Soulyah, Noahnee, Indigo, Rkhty, King Khufu, Gyan, Alan and Alex; siblings, Shelia McLaurin, Mary Louise (John) Blunt, Paul (Dana) McLaurin, Reverend Madeline M. Hunter, Yul (Toi) McLaurin, David McLaurin, and Eric (Brandy) Wimbley; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Murph was a United States Marine Veteran. He was a skilled mechanic by trade, and enjoyed his work. Steven enjoyed playing chess in his free time. More than anything, Murph loved spending time with his family and friends. He is sure to be missed. You may call on the family Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., with funeral service to follow at 12 p.m., at Burrell Funeral Services. Reverend Madeline M. Hunter officiating. Per Steven's wishes, cremation will follow. A repass meal following the services will be held at St. Paul A.M.E., 561 Pine St. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
