Annie Louise Sowers, 85, of Zanesville, Ohio gained her eternal reward Friday, December 18, 2020. Annie was born March 14, 1935 to the late Hiram and Sarah (Westmoreland) Matthews. In addition to her parents, Annie is also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Phelus “Jack” M. Sowers; and her cherished son, Charles “Charlie” E. Sowers; as well as a great-grandchild.
Annie leaves to cherish her memory, her brothers, Fred Matthews, of Ohio, and Wilson “Chris” Matthews, of California; her daughter, Sarah A. (Dave) Edwards, her grandchildren whom she raised as her own, Stacey L. (Rozelle) Sowers and Chris (Courtney) Sowers, all of Ohio; 2 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren, with 2 on the way; and a host of other family members and friends.
Annie dedicated 35 years of service to the Lear Corporation before retiring. She was a faithful and dedicated member of The Hands of Faith Church in Zanesville. Annie loved to sing, with her favorite songs being ‘Walk on Bye’ and ‘Rough Side of the Mountain’. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
You may call on the family Wednesday, December 23, 2020 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., with funeral service to follow at 1 p.m., at Burrell Funeral Services. Pastor Michael Bullock officiating. Annie will be laid to rest beside her husband and son in Woodlawn Cemetery. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
