Carrie Lea Dowdy, 44, of Valrico, FL, passed away July 21, 2022 in the comfort of her home following a courageous battle against breast cancer with metastatic disease to bone, brain, liver and lung. Carrie was born September 8, 1977 in San Diego, CA, daughter of Emma Lou Watton. In addition to her mother, Carrie leaves to mourn her loss, her loving husband, James Clifford Dowdy; her beloved children, Mackenzie Rae and Kason Matthew Dowdy; brother, Scott Matthew Bone; niece, Tierany Lea Bone; grandmother, Colleen Starrett; and a host of other family and friends.
Carrie is preceded in death by her grandfather, the father figure in her life, Harold M. Starrett.
Carrie was a graduate of Philo High School, class of 1995. She went on to complete her Associates Degree in nursing at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, where she graduated in 2006. Carrie furthered her education at Jacksonville University where she obtained her Bachelors of Nursing in 2009. Following her education, Carrie dedicated 8 years of service to the United States Army. Carrie later worked as a registered nurse case manager with the Department of Veteran Affairs in Lakeland, Florida. She was a dedicated and loving mother, who enjoyed being heavily involved in her children's sporting activities. Carrie was creative and loved to bake and craft. She was a beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and much more. Carrie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Carrie's life will be held Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., at 27 S 3rd St. in Zanesville, Ohio. Obituary provided by BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES.
