Denny Carrel Obituary

Denny R. Carrel 64 of Zanesville passed away Friday, May 22, 2026, after a long battle with Stage 5 renal kidney failure.

Denny, also known as “D.C.,” “The Wild Man,” and by many other nicknames, was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 302. He loved lottery tickets, playing bingo, listening to classic rock, and watching the Cincinnati Reds. Denny is survived by his daughter, Toray Carrel; mother, Mary E. Carrel and father, Ralph W. Carrel; his granddaughter, Laykin Starkey (Ryhder Smith); one brother, John Carrel; and three sisters, Melinda Lubas, Laura Carrel, and Amanda Carrel. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and numerous close friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Zanesville Kidney Care for the care and compassion shown to Denny throughout his illness.

Denny was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Rebecca Sims, and his nephew, William “Billy” Paul.
