Gerald DeFoe Knapp, 91, of Lexington, Ohio, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021. Gerald was born July 1, 1929 to the late Roy M. Knapp and Anna M. (Tarman) (Mishler) Knapp. In addition to his parents, Gerald is also preceded in death by five brothers, Marvel Mishler, Harold Mishler, Nelson Mishler, Lowell Knapp, and Merrill Knapp; and four sisters, LaVon Spriestersback, Willodean Smith, Carol Cooper and Evelyn Horner.
Gerald leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and dedicated wife, Mary Carol (Myers) Knapp; his sons, Gary (Pam) Knapp, of McKinney, TX and Dan (Marie) Knapp, of Palm Bay, FL; his daughters, Marilyn (Mark) Meyer, of Bellville, OH and Martha (Paul) Brush, of Columbus, OH; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Gerald attended Buchanan High School in Buchanan, MI, International Bible College in San Antonio, TX and graduated from Apostolic Bible Institute in St. Paul, MN in 1953. Gerald taught Sunday School for many years, ushered for over 18 years and led the seniors group for over 18 years where they took trips, had carry in dinners, pizza parties and dinners at different restaurants and homes. He also taught home Bible studies for several years and taught Bible studies at church for 2 years.
Gerald loved genealogy and traced several of his family lines back into the 1500s. He enjoyed his iPhone and iPad. Gerald also enjoyed cooking and baking. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather whom will be deeply missed.
You may call on the family Friday, February 5, 2021 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. with funeral service to follow at 6 p.m., at Grace Point Sanctuary, 3950 Summit View Rd, Dublin, Ohio, Pastor Mark A. Meyer, Sr. officiating. Burial will take place Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 11 a.m. in Jerome Township Cemetery, 10760 Jerome Rd, Plain City, Ohio. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
