Gertrude Louise (Kirby) Morgan

Gertrude Louise (Kirby) Morgan, 91, of Zanesville, Ohio, went to be with The Lord on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. Born September 10, 1931, Gertrude was the daughter of the late Mary (Viney) and James H. Kirby, of Glouster, Ohio. In addition to her parents, Gertrude is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Morgan; siblings, Dwight Viney, Mary Bernadine Keels, James Kirby and Shirley Wilson.
Gertrude leaves to cherish her memory, her children, David, Debra Michelle, Gary (Wanda), all of Zanesville, Jack, of Washington, PA, Cheryl and Patricia, of Zanesville; step-daughters, Joan Coleman, of Newark, OH and Carolyn (Anthony) Payton, of Heath, OH; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty Franklin, of Portsmouth, RI, and Kenneth Kirby, of Zanesville; sister-in-law, Alyce (James) Kirby, of Zanesville; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of other loved ones and friends.
Gertrude was a long-time, dedicated member of Union Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother and wife, who belonged to several organizations throughout the community during her life. These include the Wanda Morgan Club, The Civic League Community Center Board, The Democratic Women's Club and The AFL-CIO Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Gertrude was a Union Representative for UTA and she was also a founding member and former President of the Nelson T. Gant Organization. Gertrude was a wonderful woman and her legacy will be cherished by all who knew her. 
You may call on the family Tuesday, January 10, 2023 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., at Burrell Funeral Services in Zanesville. An additional hour of visitation will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., with funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., at The Greater Apostolic Church of Christ, 1651 State St., in Zanesville. Pastor Terrence Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery where Gertrude will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Jack. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
