Iris Rose Bates

Iris Rose Bates, 76, of Zanesville Ohio, passed away on December 6, 2025. Iris was born on April 18, 1949, to Harvey Sr. and Oweda (Coleman) Fogle. In addition to her parents, Iris is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Martin Albert Bates; son, Alan Paul Hicks; siblings, Harvey, Emma and Chuck.

Iris leaves to cherish her memory, her grandchildren, Michael (Elyshia) Hicks, Brett (Brittany) Hicks and Cody Bittner; daughter in law, Brenda Bates; brother, Larry (Pam) Fogle; several nieces and nephews as well as many other friends and family. 

Iris was a faithful believer in Christ. She enjoyed singing and praising when she was able. Spending time with her family was one of her favorite things to do, especially her grandchildren. Iris also liked to play video games as well. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

You may call on the family on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 11am until 12pm with funeral services starting 12pm at Burrell Funeral Services in Zanesville. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
