John Leroy Newman

John Leroy Newman, 57, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Genesis Hospital. John was born October 23, 1964 to the late Edward and Ethel (Stubblefield) Newman. In addition to his parents, John is also preceded in death by brothers, James "Cuddie" Newman and Brian Voorhies; grandmother, Marguerite Miller; and his daughter's mother, Sherri Morgan.
John leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved daughter, Jaska Newman; siblings, David Voorhies, Bridget Miller and Debbie (Les) Clark; special nieces and nephew, Katurah Norris, Krista Miller, Ashley Clark and Jerome Newman; several great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. 
John was a simple man. He enjoyed making others smile, flirting with any woman he met and being social. John was a funny, self-proclaimed ladies man. He was a concrete mason by trade, member of Union Local 133. In his younger years, John enjoyed time spent at the Blockhouse and the Only Ones M.C.C. He loved music, and enjoyed time outdoors in activities such as hunting and fishing. John was an avid athlete and graduate of Zanesville High School, where he was a member of both the football and baseball teams. Off the field, John was known to get scrappy, if need be. He was a lively and fun loving man who will be missed by all who knew him.
Per the family's wishes, cremation has been chosen and memorial services in John's honor will be held at a later date. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
