Marlon "Fid" John Franklin Norris, 82, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022 at his home. Marlon was born June 5, 1940, to the late Mae Willett and John Barnett. Marlon was adopted by Mae's sister and her husband, Aunt Elva and Uncle Carl, who raised him from the age of 8. In addition to his biological parents, Fid is also preceded in death by his adopted parents, Elva and Carl Norris; ex-wife, Carolyn Rogers; sons, Bruce and Marlon Norris; ex-wife, Margaret "Louise" Ingram; and siblings, Raymond Willett, Bobbie Gene Willett, Ronald "Ronnie" Willett and Jesse "Dick" Willett.
Fid leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Michael (Lisha) Norris, of Riverside, CA, Randy (Medrith) Johnson, of Los Angeles, CA, Roger (Leila) Norris, of Columbus, OH, Scott Norris, of Columbus, OH, Audi Norris, of Zanesville, OH and Marcus Norris, of Zanesville, OH; ex-wife, Beverly Norris, of Zanesville, OH; grandchildren, Lamar Norris, Stephanie Norris, Marlon Norris, Braylen Norris, Grant Norris, Randi Johnson, Kaylynn and Jaylynn Norris, Marlin Norris, Jaccarri Wilcots, of Atlanta, GA, and Nehemiah Wilcots, of Los Angeles, CA; siblings, Dorothy Mae "Sis" Willett and Connie Spencer, both of Columbus, OH; step-children, Nina Brooks and Shana Huckabee, both of Columbus, OH; Goddaughter, Jerrica (Geese) Brown, of Akron, OH; longtime best friends, Forest Farmer and Phil "Zeke" Newman; longtime friend and Randy Johnson's mother, Barbara Johnson, of Columbus, OH; as well as a host of other loved ones and many, many friends.
Marlon was a Zanesville High School graduate, member of the class of 1958. He went on to dedicate many years to UPS as a truck driver. Fid loved to ride around Zanesville and visit with family and friends. In his free time, Marlon loved to listen to music and play cards. He was an avid Ohio State Football fan. He loved his kids and grandkids and enjoyed time spent visiting in New Haven, Connecticut and California. Fid was a huge fan of Muhammad Ali, who was his idol. Marlon loved everyone and lived a great life, doing it 'his way'. He will be deeply missed by many.
You may call on the family Friday, July 1, 2022 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., with funeral service to follow at 12 p.m., at the Apostolic Christian Church, 1148 Ridge Ave., in Zanesville. Elders Norris, Sowers and Cunningham of Church of God Saints of Christ to officiate. Special words to be shared by Pastor Keith Wyatt, Bishop James Gaiters and Reverend Clifton Kilpatrick.
