Michael Wayne Lanning, 67, of Zanesville passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 at his home, with his beloved pet Tigger by his side. Mike was born June 22, 1953 to the late Lawrence E. And Bonna Jean (Grosscup) Lanning. In addition to his parents, Mike is also preceded in death by his brothers, Steven and Gregory; sister, Sharon; nephews, Levi Brown, Travis Houston, and Jason Lanning; great-niece, Kieleigh Knox; and grandparents, Lawrence and Goldie Lanning and Lawrence and Thelma Grosscup.
Michael leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Trevor Michael Lanning; ex-wife, Kim Cynkar; sisters, Tammy (Mike) Shepherd, Lorie Moody, and Kathy Lanning; many aunts, uncles and cousins; several nieces and nephews, including Matthew Armstrong and Tyler Dickerson, who are thanked for their help in this trying time; a multitude of friends, including Dennis Bussey and Gerald Young, as well as the many friends from his bowling and pool leagues.
Mike was a plumber by trade. He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to spend time camping, hunting or fishing. When hunting, he often aimed for deer or turkey. He also enjoyed hunting mushrooms and ginseng. Any excuse to be outdoors, Mike would take it. He enjoyed making other laugh with his infectious sense of humor. His family hopes that the laughs and good memories of Mike will last forever. Per the family’s wishes, cremation has been chosen. A memorial service in Mike’s honor will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2020 beginning at 2 p.m., at Burrell Funeral Services. Per CDC recommendations, all guests are asked to wear a self provided face covering. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
