Richard "Rich" Davis Obituary

Richard “Rich” L. Davis (1945-2025) passed away in his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Richard was born on April 13, 1945 to the late Wilma (Summerlott) and Donald Davis in Shelbyville, Illinois. As a youngster, he spent his time on the farm helping his family. He became an active member of the FFA and 4H during his youth. Rich always had the heart and brain of an entrepreneur. During his teenage years, he started grading and selling eggs from the chickens on the farm. This love grew and he attended The University of Illinois where he got his degree in business. Richard spent many years building houses and cabinets. One of his favorite stories to tell is about the subdivision he built in one summer. His favorite past times included doing anything with his children or grandchildren and watching his Dodgers play ball. Rich spent many summers coaching local youth softball teams well after his children were no longer playing. He enjoyed teaching kids the love of the game.

Richard is survived by his sister; Nancy (Edward) Hurliman; his children Jeffrey (Deborah) Davis, Kendra Davis, Cary (Jonie) Davis, Timothy (Sonja) Davis, Melissa Davis, and Rebecca Davis; his grandchildren Spencer (Nela) Davis, Grant Davis, Carlye Balsley, Carter Davis, Brooklyn Davis, Mackynsi Balsley, Austin Cummings, Katelyn Davis, Sydney Marshall, Arielle Marshall, Lillian Davis, and Dylan Davis.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Robin Davis along with multiple aunts, uncles and cousins.

Per Rich wishes, cremation has been chosen. A celebration of life will take place on, October 24, 2025, at 4pm at Three Rivers Fire Station, 24199 St Route 621, Coshocton Ohio. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
