Robert Lee Cohagen, 93, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023. Robert was born February 3, 1930, in Zanesville, son of the late Donald E. and Alta Cohagen. In addition to his parents, Robert is also preceded in death by his sister, Gloria (Harry) Surls.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 70 years, Mary (Woods) Cohagen, whom he married July 24, 1953; Sue and Don (whom he loved as a son) Myers; Danny and Betty Jo Cohagen; Karah and Ryan Bailey; Katey Khune; Kelly and Andrew Wisniewski; Melissa and Brett Cohagen-Athey; Nicholas and Amanda Cohagen; Jacob, Matthew and Brannan Cohagen; seven great-grandchildren, especially Addyson and Lacey Khune, who kept him young; many cousins; and his little buddy, Struedel.
Robert was a United States Veteran, having served in the US Army. He went on to be employed by both Dutro's and Armco here in Zanesville. Robert enjoyed motorcycles and bicycling in his free time. He loved fast and shiny cars, and enjoyed taking a ride down the track at National Trail Raceway. Robert also had an interest in camera and stereo equipment. He also enjoyed archery and even became a professional archer.
He enjoyed the 70 beautiful years of marriage he shared with his wife. Mary was truly the love of his life and Robert always took such good care of her. 70 years later, he and Mary still held hands and showed their family what true love looks like. "He loved all and all loved him." Robert was always kind and loving. He shared his wonderful sense of humor with all he met. "Buckeye Bob" or "Mr. Perfect" were names he often used to refer to himself, and his family all agree-- he was Mr. Perfect.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Oaks at Bethesda, especially his special nurses Ashley and Layla, as well as Genesis Hospice for their excellent care. Per Robert's wishes, cremation has been chosen and no services will be observed at this time. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
