Ronald "Goody" Alfred Goodrich, 79, of Zanesville, Ohio passed away Friday, March 4, 2022 at Genesis Hospice. Ronald was born January 14, 1943 in Zanesville, to the late Benjamin Deavers and Bertha (Jonathan) Goodrich. In addition to his parents, Ronald is also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Goodrich; children, Tina, Angela, Susan, Marissa, Ronald and Byron; siblings, Betty Buck, Orville (Betty) Swingle, Paul Swingle, Phillis Hyson, Donald Swingle and Francis Swingle; mother and father-in-law, Paul and Nancy Abbott; and brothers-in-law, Howard Lightfoot and William "Bill" Abbott, Sr.
Ronald leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Kim (Dwight) Bowen, Holly Bankes, Scott Goodrich, Mark (Sarah) Goodrich, Jonathan (Sarah) Goodrich and Miranda (Anthany Mayle) Goodrich; 24 cherished grandchildren; brother, Elmer (Mary) Swingle; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane Lightfoot, David (Penni) Abbott and Anna (George) McNerney; and a host of other family members and friends.
Ronald spent the early years of his life on the farm with Louise and Alvin McVicker, who he considered to be his parents. In his teenage years, Goody was reunited with his mother and adopted by Jonathan (Les) Goodrich.
Goody's talents in construction took him all over the United States as an adult. He was an avid reader, he loved to educate himself as well as others. If you ever met Goody, you walked away with a new piece of knowledge, or a new joke. In his later years, he looked forward to his monthly card games. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply missed.
Per the family's wishes, cremation has been chosen. A memorial service in Goody's honor will be held Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., at Road Dogs Tavern, 1602 Ridge Ave. in Zanesville. Guests are encouraged to bring a covered dish for the pot-luck style meal. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
