Betty K. Murphy, 89, of Caldwell, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 at her home. She was born in Newcomerstown, Ohio, to the late William T. and Ada Bertha (Davis) Johnson. 
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clare Jay Murphy, whom she married in 1951; six brothers, Marion, Carl, Paul, Jack, Donald, and Robert. 
She leaves behind to mourn her loss, her son, Jay Murphy; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. 
Betty was a graduate of the Kent State Univ. and briefly taught third grade at Caldwell Elementary from 1945-1946. She then operated Murphy-Danielson Funeral Home for many years. Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Caldwell. She was also known for her cooking skills and she enjoyed cooking for people. Betty is sure to be missed by all those whose lives she touched. 
You may call on the family Wednesday, June 6, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 7, at 1 p.m. Both the viewing and service are to be held at Murphy-Danielson Funeral home, 917 Main Street, Caldwell, Ohio.
